5/17 Meet Information
EMC Eels Families,
This Saturday is our first away dual meet at the Walden Wavez. The Wavez provided us with a lot of information to make the meet smooth, so please read this email in its entirety. We still need five timers for second shift and a head timer. Please sign up for a volunteer shift if you haven’t already. The meet will not continue without these positions filled.
Address:
Walden Country Club, 18100 Walden Forest Dr, Humble, TX 77346
Timeline:
7:00am -- Parents arrive and set up; Wavez warmups (home team always goes first). Swimmers will check in with Aaron and Ken to receive their events. If arriving after 7:30, please text Aaron with your swimmer name @ 713-876-1930. Volunteers will be looking for Craig this week to check in to get their badges. He will be set up near swimmer check in. Write your swimmers’ names on their backs and event numbers ONLY on their arms (heats and lanes are subject to change).
7:45 -- EMC Eels warmups
8:15 -- Timers Meeting at shower area
8:30 -- Meet Begins
Again, we do not know when the meet will end, as this depends on how many swimmers we have, how quickly the events finish, how many volunteers we have, and how efficiently we change shifts at event 41.
Parking
Visitor parking is across the street at the country club. Limited parking is allowed on the same side of the street as the visitor set up. Please respect our residence and do not park in front of homes, yards, etc. if there are no parking sides posted. THANK YOU.
Please do NOT park near areas with “No Parking” signs along Walden Forest Drive.
Set Up
Visitor Signs will be out in the designated area for visiting teams tent area.
(Open grass area next to the pool with gate opening to enter the pool area.) Blankets/tarps for the ground, bug spray, and sunblock would be great things to pack this weekend.
Home and Visitor Coaches red tents will be set up Poolside
Meet Entries
Swimmers are allowed 3 individual events and 2 relays. Your swimmer may be in different events than last week as we give them opportunities to improve in each stroke.
Relay Entries
We are allowed 3 relay teams if we have the numbers. If your child is in a “C” relay, there is a chance that it will be scratched if we have to move kids around due to no shows. It’s important to let us know if you are not going to be at a meet or leave early so we can plan. For the MEDLEY RELAY, the number listed is the stroke they will do. A 1 is backstroke, 2 is breaststroke, 3 is butterfly, and 4 is freestyle. For FREESTYLE RELAY, everyone swims freestyle in the order they are listed. Please ask questions if you are unsure. Relays are seeded based on time trials times, but are adjusted each week based on each swimmer’s improved time.
Concessions
Walden’s concession menu is attached. They will also have a coffee truck and donut/breakfast sandwich vendor.
Some reminders from the Board:
Please RSVP for Bingo Night by declaring for the event, just like a swim meet. We would love to have you (and your family and neighbors!) there. Tickets are $5 at the door and include Raising Cane’s, chips, drink, and a bingo card.
Take a second and tell us your thoughts on Awards night by filling out this survey.
There is no practice on Friday.
