    Preseason information

    EMC Eels families,

Next week we kick off Preseason Clinics! This email will have everything you need to know to get us started on the right foot (fin?) for the season.

    Preseason (April 13-16)

Next week we are hosting three separate preseason clinics. See the attached graphic to figure out which one is best for your swimmer.

    • Elver’s requires registration via our website and is for swimmers working to become water safe. Sessions are at 5:00pm and 5:35pm.
    • Rookie Camp is included in team registration and is for all water-safe new competitive swimmers. Sessions are at 6:10-7pm. You do not need to sign up to join. Please just come to the pool on Monday ready to swim at 6:10!
    • Stroke clinics are for anyone who has previously been on our team wanting to refine their technique. Sign up for stroke clinics for $10/day by purchasing them through our team store. Sessions are 7-8pm.

    Water Safety

ALL new swimmers 8 and under must have a water safety test before starting practice. If you missed both of our on-site registration days, please click here to sign up for a time slot later this week.

    Sponsorships

All sponsorship forms and money must be turned in by FRIDAY in order to be on our team shirt. We would LOVE to include your family name through a Family Sponsorship. Family sponsors receive a free EMC EELS yard sign! We need three more businesses to join us at the elite level to hit our fundraising goals.

    Merchandise

All merchandise (including team suits, fan gear, and stroke clinics) is purchased separately from registration. Remember to stop by the team store online or visit our merchandise booth at select practices to get set for the season.

    Equipment

All swimmers should come to practice with a one-piece swimsuit and goggles they are comfortable in. Caps are helpful for protecting the hair and reducing drag. If you are unsure how to put on a cap, don’t hesitate to ask for help! It’s a learned skill. Caps and goggles are available for purchase through our team store, or onsite next week. Coach Isaiah has a few other pieces of optional equipment he recommends:

    • Fins teach proper foot placement for an improved kick. Look for “long blade training fins” (not snorkeling fins or short-blade fins, even though those are cooler colors).
    • Buoys isolate the leg muscles to build arm strength
    • Older swimmers may use paddles to learn proper arm placement and improve their catch in the water.

    Volunteering

There are still several season-long positions opened for volunteer roles. We are also still accepting officials. Please respond here if you are interested in either of these opportunities.

Regular season practice start April 20! We are SO excited to start this season with you.
