Meet Information: at Trailwood Village
Eels families,
This Saturday is our first opportunity to watch those times from Time Trials drop! We are so excited to see what these kids can do. Here is everything you need to know. Please pay special attention to parking maps linked here and also below.
Location:
Trailwood Village Pool, 2029 Thousand Pines Drive, Kingwood, TX 77339
Schedule:
- 6:30 Set up Crew arrives
- 7:00 Families arrive. Swimmers check in with Aaron and Ken to receive their events. If you are arriving after 7:30, text Aaron at (713) 876-1930 with your swimmer’s first and last name. Volunteers check in with Brooke, regardless of what shift you are working. If you are signed up for a shift at any point on Saturday and you have not checked in with her by 8am, your shift may be given away. You may text Brooke at 281-797-7002 if you are running late. Please see the maps from TVG to see where to set up. EMC is outside the fence.
- 7:45-8:15 EMC warm ups (visiting team always goes second)
- 8:10 Timers and Scribes meeting
- 8:30 Meet starts
Again, we do not know how long the meet will last. This depends on how efficiently we complete shift change and how fast the kids swim.
Swimmer Events
Swimmers may be entered in up to 3 individual events (they must have current times for each) and 2 relay events. Relays are formed by the computer and approved by coaches. The fastest four swimmers are on A team, the next fastest are on B, then on C team. For medley relays, the number next to the letter indicates what stroke your swimmer will do (1: backstroke; 2: breaststroke; 3: butterfly; 4: freestyle). If you are assigned to a relay, your team is depending on you. Please do not leave the meet because that event will have to scratch, possibly wasting the time of the three other families on your relay. If you choose not to participate in relays, you may mark that when you declare.
Tent Parents
Everyone please remind your 10U swimmers to meet back at the tent after each event. The age group tent is always the muster point no matter where we are swimming. The tent parent’s job is to walk swimmers to the ready bench when their events are called. If you are volunteering elsewhere in the meet, please make sure the tent parent knows where you are. All parents are invited to sit in the group tent to make friends and build community. If your child chooses to not sit in the age group tent, please let the tent parent know so that they are not looking for them. It will then be your responsibility to get your child to the ready bench on time.
The link has a lot of specific information about where to park. The HOA will tow vehicles improperly parked. Do not park on Trailwood Village Drive. There is street parking around the pool, as well as a large lot at Holy Comforter Lutheran Church a short walk on the greenbelts from the pool. There will be a drop off location in the east parking lot off of Thousand Pines Drive for swimmers and equipment.
Merch
Lore will have a small selection of caps and goggles in case of emergency at the meet. If you’d like a team shirt to wear, please plan on purchasing that at the pool Thursday or Friday. All merchandise is in and should be picked up immediately, including tshirts for all swimmers. If your swimmer does not yet have theirs, please have them come to the front table at practice. We have a few remaining team suits available for purchase if you still need one.
Weather
Both teams are keeping an eye on the weather forecast. As of now, the meet will continue as scheduled. We will communicate any updates to you as soon as we get them. For the most immediate updates, subscribe to our Remind texts by texting EMCSwi to 81010. Please be prepared for wet ground with extra towels or tarps/picnic blankets to sit on.
Miscellaneous notes
- A girls team swimsuit (size 22/24) was lost at the meet on Saturday, possibly left in the girls bathrooms. Please check your laundry baskets for an extra suit.
- RSVP to Bingo Night on March 19 (no regular practices that day) on SwimTopia
- If your swimmer earns a qualifying time for Shark Splash, be sure to declare by Saturday night if you’d like to attend.
Swim Fast!
