Meet Information: home vs Mills Branch

    EMC Eels Parents,

Saturday is our first home meet against the Mills Branch Marlins. Friday we will have a pep rally (and alternate schedule) to get pumped for the meet. We hope everyone can join us on the lawn for popsicles, cheers, games, and team building fun. This is especially important so all of our Elvers and their older swim buddies can meet and hang out. The parking lot may be partially blocked off, so please be vigilant when parking.

    • 5:00-5:30 – 6 and under
    • 5:30-6:00 – 7-8s
    • 6:00-7:00 – PEP RALLY
    • 7:00-7:30 – 9-10s
    • 7:30-8:00 – 11 and up

Here is everything you need to know for Saturday’s meet:

    • 6:30 – Set up crew arrives (meet set up, concessions set up, tent coordinators)
    • 7:00 – Parents arrive and start setting up. We are sharing the parking lot with the Marlins, so take a look at the attached map for where EMC set up is. Swimmers check in with Aaron and Ken at the circle in table and receive your slip of paper with your events for the day. Text Aaron at 713-876-1930 with your swimmer name if you are running late. Write your swimmers name on their backs and their event numbers ONLY on their arm (heat and lane numbers may change, so adding those early in the meet causes a lot of confusion). Volunteers, check in with Brooke to get your volunteer badge regardless of what shift you are working.
    • 7:15 – Home team warmups
    • 7:45 – Visiting team warmups
    • 7:50 – Listen to the announcer for a timers and scribes meeting.
    • 8:15 – Shift One volunteers and events 1 & 2 are called to the ready bench.
    • 8:30 – Start the meet!

We do not know how long the meet will go, as this depends on how many swimmers show up, how fast each of those swimmers are, the number of volunteers we have, and how smoothly we make volunteer transitions.

    Meet Entries

Swimmers are allowed 3 individual events and 2 relays. Individual events will vary from week to week to allow your swimmer opportunities to practice each stroke.

    Relay Entries

We are allowed 3 relay teams if we have the numbers. If your child is in a “C” relay, there is a chance that it will be scratched if we have to move kids around due to no shows. It’s important to let us know if you are not going to be at a meet or leave early so we can plan. For the MEDLEY RELAY, the number listed is the stroke they will do. A 1 is backstroke, 2 is breaststroke, 3 is butterfly, and 4 is freestyle. For FREESTYLE RELAY, everyone swims freestyle in the order they are listed. Please ask questions if you are unsure. Relays are seeded based on the athlete’s best time, and are adjusted each week based on each swimmer’s improved performance.

    Concessions

We are thrilled to offer Freddy’s breakfast tacos, Pat’s Donuts, and grilled burgers and dogs for lunch. We are excited to welcome EMC family-owned coffee cart El Nutty Bean to the natatorium. Jeremiah’s Italian Ice will be there ready to cool you down and reward your swimmer’s hard work.

    Merchandise

Our merchandise tent will be full of fun swim shirts, EMC swag, caps and goggles for swim emergencies, and a few other necessities to keep you cool. Did you know we have EMC earrings? Bumper stickers? KOOZIES! Come by the table and see all the ways you support the team.

    Reminder:

For our team and the visiting team,

    • Please help us respect the property by making sure swimmers do not get in the landscaping or fountain and ensure everyone picks up after themselves.
    • Absolutely NO BALLS are allowed because there are lights over the courtyard, and windows around.
    • No one is allowed on the turf area.
    • No children should be in the elevators without a parent.
    • Please make sure trash gets put in the cans. Do not leave large trash items (like busted tent canopies) at the pool.
