Meet Information: at Sand Creek
Eels families,
Thank you for your flexibility yesterday with an unexpected schedule change. We will have normal practice tonight and tomorrow. Saturday we head to Sand Creek to take on the Sea Lions for an exciting dual meet! We are so thankful the weather looks clear. Below you will find everything you need to know about the schedule and parking.
Location:
3021 Timber Shade Dr., Kingwood, TX 77345
Schedule:
- 6:30 Set up Crew arrives. EMC Set up is on the left of the sidewalk when facing the pool. See attached map. The Sea Lions strongly recommend tarps for your tent area and shoes for walking around the set up area and playground. The setup area is shaded.
- 7:00 Families arrive. Swimmers check in with Ken to receive their events. If you are arriving after 7:30, text Allyson at 713-542-2247 with your swimmer’s first and last name. Volunteers check in with Brooke, regardless of what shift you are working. If you are signed up for a shift at any point on Saturday and you have not checked in with her by 8am, your shift may be given away. You may text Brooke at 281-797-7002 if you are running late.
- 7:10 Prayer at the flagpole. Everyone is welcome to join.
- 7:45-8:15 EMC warm ups (visiting team always goes second)
- 8:10 Timers and Scribes meeting
- 8:30 Meet starts
Again, we do not know how long the meet will last. This depends on how efficiently we complete shift change and how fast the kids swim.
Pool Notes
SCSL concession stand takes credit card only. They will also have Travelin’ Tom’s coffee and Jeremiah’s.
Swimmer Events
Swimmers may be entered in up to 3 individual events (they must have current times for each) and 2 relay events. Relays are formed by the computer and approved by coaches. The fastest four swimmers are on A team, the next fastest are on B, then on C team. For medley relays, the number next to the letter indicates what stroke your swimmer will do (1: backstroke; 2: breaststroke; 3: butterfly; 4: freestyle). If you are assigned to a relay, your team is depending on you. Please do not leave the meet because that event will have to scratch, possibly wasting the time of the three other families on your relay. If you choose not to participate in relays, you may mark that when you declare.
Parking Info from Sand Creek
Our Homeowners' Association is very strict on parking, and we actively work all season to remain in its good graces. Anything you can do to communicate this and the following to your team is greatly appreciated.
Please pay attention to and abide by all 'no parking' signs. Also, in the case of overflow parking, we ask that families do not park on both sides of any street, in intersections, or within 30ft. of any stop sign.
Parents are permitted to drop swimmers off at the pool on Timber Shade, but we ask that they park at Deerwood Elementary School, 2920 Forest Garden Dr. From the elementary school, the Sand Creek pool is just a short walk (3 minutes) on the greenbelt trails. Signs will be set up between the parking lot and the pool to direct foot traffic. Please see attached maps.
Miscellaneous notes
- Please make sure your swimmer has their name on their backs. This is incredibly helpful for ready bench volunteers. Remind them to listen well. A smooth and efficient ready bench truly means a smooth and efficient meet.
- Saturday is the swimmers' last opportunity to earn qualifying times for Summer Champs. You can click on this meet in SwimTopia, declare like normal, then see the events each swimmer is eligible to swim. Participation is optional and $8/event. The deadline to declare is Saturday evening after official meet results are published.
Swim Fast!
